Our roots

Originally conceived as Canyonlands Community Recycling, our nonprofit was founded in 1991 to establish and manage Moab's first recycling center. In these early years, support provided by the City of Moab, Grand County, local and regional corporations and foundations, and from private donors and community members. Thousands of pounds of materials were diverted from the waste stream through the efforts of Canyonlands Community Recycling and local community partners.

CCR ran the recycling center until 2010 when the Solid Waste District took over the management. CCR then amended its mission to include providing public education via a slew of community-oriented events, including: the Trashion Show, the Upcycled Art Party, and paper and e-waste drives.

In 2016, CCR rebranded beyond recycling, in the effort to serve a vital niche in the community promoting creative reuse, upcycling, and holistic sustainability. The amended mission came with a new name: the Resiliency Hub.

Where we are today

The Resiliency Hub has hosted many, many events over the years - from rainwater harvesting workshpos to herb walks to Artwalks and solstice gatherings.

The TeaGarden is a park where anyone is free to stop in to enjoy the natural landscaping and harvest food and medicinal plants.

We operate as an all-volunteer board, partnering with many other groups in our valley. Meet our board members!
